Did you hear that the Beatles recently released a new song?

But that’s impossible, you may be thinking. They broke up in 1970 and never fully reunited, not even for a special concert or an oldies tour. John Lennon passed away in 1980 when he was murdered outside his New York City apartment by Mark David Chapman, and George Harrison died in 2001 from lung cancer.

So where did this “new” song come from? And better yet, is it any good?

Let’s look at the story behind the song first. According to various reports, John recorded the song “Now and Then” over 50 years ago when he was living in New York City. After his assassination, his wife, Yoko Ono, held on to the song for a while before giving it to the surviving Beatles: George, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr. Harrison added his guitar talents in 1995, and McCartney and Starr recently did the rest.

I’ve already listened to the song several times and also watched the video on YouTube, and I have to admit, sadly, I am unimpressed. While it’s interesting to hear John’s voice again, I have to agree with…
