How many of you are old enough to remember record albums? For those of you who are too young to remember, a record album is a 12-inch slice of vinyl, about the size of a personal pan pizza that we would spin on a turntable, and then, we would drop a very fine needle onto that disk in order to hear our favorite music. Each album had about 10 to 12 songs, and, then, after an artist or a group had put out three or four of these albums, they would release a collection of their greatest hits, again about 10 or 12 songs, but in this case the ones that were the most popular from the first set of albums. The neat thing about these “Greatest Hits” albums is that you didn’t have to necessarily buy all the albums of your favorite musicians.

If you didn’t have much money, which was usually true in my case, I could simply wait until The Beach Boys or Bob Dylan or the Temptations put out their Greatest Hits and just buy that album, which is what I did. Now apparently, these “Greatest Hits” collections are not as popular today because listeners themselves can download whatever music they want, or they can just take advantage of online streaming services. But as I was growing up, we didn’t have that technology.

So what I thought we would do today is take a look at the Greatest Hits of David. No, not David…
